Thanks for the interesting article.
I live in South Africa, and life is becoming very dangerous for farmers living here. Violence is becoming a huge issue, more farmer being killed each and every year.

In fact I think last year farming was ranked as the 3rd most dangerous profession in South Africa after being a fireman and policeman. I hope things turn around soon, but in all honesty I think it will get worse before it gets any better. Very sad indeed.

All the best,
Bill Jenkins

Its good to see Wangari, even though she lives in Kenya’s capital worked hard enough on low wages to make an investment that is now paying off! There is entreupreneurial spirit in Kenya and this is one example of that.

An Interesting and inspirational article about absentee farming in Africa. Here in NM, USA, I'm also seeing a revival of interest in gardening especially in growing vegetables and herbs for ones own consumption. Much of the renewed interest can be attributed to media coverage of where our grocery store food actually comes from in our country. Educated people are beginning to realize that we and our children are obese due to the quality of the food we are typically consuming from either fast food restaurants or grocery stores. Thank you for your informative article.

Interesting article on Absentee farming and people going back to farming. My family always had gardens when possible and at one point rented out land and sold some of the crops. Delicous, nutritious and brought in some extra income.
